Top Alkaline Fall Foods & Recipes

Pumpkin spice and alkaline bites!

The magic of fall is here! The nights are getting crisper, nature splashes vibrant red and gold everywhere you look (well, not for me because I live in Florida), and my kids are all already planning their Halloween costumes.

What I love the most about this season is the FALL FLAVORS! It’s a delectable time to be a gut-healthy alkaline foodie. Below is a list of seasonal foods you can buy at your farmer’s market or grocery store, as well as a few legendary Gioffre recipes.

Pumpkin Spice

Ok, I know this is not “food,” but it embodies the feels of fall. It’s also everywhere you look, but often in the most toxic forms. Which is why I created Pumpkin Spice bites that love your body back.

Starting with the icon that started it all—The Pumpkin Spice Latte. Here’s how to enjoy it—without the 50 grams of SUGAR that Starbucks puts in. Next, go all in with a Pumpkin Pie Breakfast (or anytime!) Bowl. And delight in a Pumpkin Spice Smoothie to get you through the afternoon. Yes, I really do want your PTL dreams to come true!

Apples

Apples are the real fall staple, and going to U-Pick orchards can be such a fun family outing. They help neutralize acid reflux and pack your body with magnesium and calcium. Apples also provide endless fall foodie uses—apple cider, apple pie, salad toppings, juice sweeteners, etc. I could apple-laud apples all day, but let’s cut into some of my top recipes.

Fall Fruits

Apples are the most common, but one can’t experience all the goodness of fall without persimmons, pomegranates, and pears. All are packed with antioxidants and vitamins and just oh-so-good. Try them all in this decadent fall fruit salad.

Mushrooms

Many mushrooms are harvested between August and November, and they are one of the healthiest alkaline foods you can eat to experience optimal gut, brain, heart, and skin health. They also supercharge your immune system—which is currently working extra hard to fight back-to-school sicknesses.

Find some crazy ones at the farmer’s market and add them to salads and meals of all kinds. They honestly go well with any savory dish.

Kale

Another incredibly diverse fall food that can and should be in as many meals as possible. Make kale chips, enjoy it in a soothing soup, or sneak it into salads and bowls.

Quinoa

A core carb that I completely approve of! It’s loaded with fiber, protein, antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. Here are some of my family’s favorite recipes:
