Create Healthy Family Memories This Summer

Right now, close your eyes and take yourself back to a blissful summer memory of your childhood. Back to a simpler time when happiness was squealing through the sprinklers on a hot day. Take a deep breath in, let that joy splash around your body, and exhale. 

This summer, follow the sun to simple moments with your family. Don’t shade yourself by feeling pressured to make it perfect or to spend it stuck in traffic driving from one activity to the next.

  • Talking to your local farmer, grooving with live bands, supporting your community’s economy, smelling the fresh flowers, soaking in the sun, seeing all the beautiful colors of fresh produce, enjoying sweet strawberries as you walk around…I could go on for centuries about how much I LOVE farmer’s markets! They activate all your senses and flood you with serotonin, the happy hormone. 

    For an even sweetener memory, let each family member pick out a few items for a picnic. Find a grassy spot near the market, or head to the lake, and enjoy your loot. Hide cell phones and play catch. Connect, nosh, play, and enjoy fresh air with your family.
