Homemade Chicken Bone Broth

SOUP SEASON IS HERE!

Instead of using a broth drowning in sodium and MSG and lacks any sort of nutrients, use my easy recipe. It’s packed with minerals and electrolytes designed to nourish and hydrate your family.

Use it as the base of all your soups this winter, and notice just how alive you feel!

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 pounds of organic or locally sourced pastured chicken bones
  • 1⁄2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 10 cups water
  • 3 celery stalks, halved
  • 3 carrots, halved
  • 3 onions, quartered
  • 1⁄2 cup roughly chopped fresh parsley
  • 11⁄2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Cooking options:

  • Put all ingredients in a slow cooker and keep on low heat for 6 to 8 hours.
  • Use an Instant Pot and choose the "soup" setting.
  • On the stove top, put all ingredients into a big pot, bring to a boil, and then turn down the heat and let it simmer for 12 hours. If using the stovetop method, you'll need to add water occasionally to keep the vegetables and bones covered.
  1. After the broth is done, let it cool, and then pour through a wire mesh strainer.
  2. Store in the fridge for use over the next few days.
  3. If you are making it ahead of time, freeze in 1-cup portions.
