It’s ALL about the 1:1 Ratio
Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acid ratio: PRO-inflammatory to ANTI-inflammatory. It should be 1:1. This is the single most important ratio in your body you NEED to know about.
Doctors measure your blood pressure, oxygenation levels, cholesterol, liver enzymes, etc.—all necessary to know—but they are leaving out the most important one: Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acid ratio. Testing and knowing your ratio offers you the MOST accurate measure of systemic and BRAIN inflammation. It literally blows my mind that this ratio isn’t your doctor’s top priority! Let me explain…
An overabundance of Omega-6s and a deficiency of Omega-3s cause a significant inflammatory imbalance in cells, creating major risk factors for systemic inflammation and brain diseases such as depression, anxiety, premature aging, dementia, ADD/ADHD, “brain fog,” etc.
The ratio is also known as the AA/EPA ratio, and it should ideally be 1:1 and NO MORE than 4:1. Yet studies show the average American diet has a ratio of 25:1 in favor of the pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids.
One of my clients, a female in high school suffering from severe depression, measured 88:1!
The pathology that creates depression and other brain diseases is the same pathology that drives many chronic diseases. Our bodies are designed to REPAIR ITSELF.
